Budding Photographers: Basic Digital Photography for Kids 13 -17

Class Description

Summer is just around the corner! We hope you’ll spend it with us, learning basic digital photography and discovering your hidden photography skills to master them in no time - you don’t even need photographic experience!
 
In this class geared for kids ages 13-17, we’ll teach you the basics and beyond! You’ll learn how to care for your camera, how to hold it to capture the best photos and how to edit your images in iPhoto. Throughout the week, we’ll teach you a basic history of photography as you make your own mark on history with a great portfolio of images to showcase at the end of the week!
 
Schedule:
Day 1 - How the camera works + how to take pictures
Day 2 - Focus on Objects - bring your favorite non-living object to class!
Day 3 - Focus on People - bring your best smile!
Day 4 - Focus on Landscapes - we’ll head outside!
Day 5 - Final editing + printing and sharing your work at the final exhibit
 
All MPCKids Summer Camps will include short lectures, hands-on picture-taking with 1:3 mentoring during indoor and outdoor sessions, editing, group discussions and creative writing in crafting an artist statement. All camps culminate in a final exhibition during parent pick-up on Friday!
 
All proceeds from these classes will go toward our mission of providing free programming for underserved youth in our community. Light snacks + beverages will be provided.
