Fashion Photography & Lighting

Instructor: Kyle Camerer

Class Description

Lighting — Fashion Photography will look at all of the elements that go into a fashion photography production.  Students will learn what equipment to use, how to create a set, work with lighting, how to interact with models, find the right angles and successfully create fashion images.

A model will be available for each class and by the end of the four sessions, students will have a diverse portfolio with various types of sets, lighting and models.

The last class will address what students should do next if they wish to pursue fashion photography further.

Class Requirements

Students should have a general understanding of digital SLR cameras, including concepts of shutter speed and aperture, though no advanced knowledge is necessary.  Some lighting experience is helpful, but there will be a very short review and introduction to lighting at the beginning of the first class that will get everybody on the same page.

You should bring your digital SLR camera to class.  Film cameras are not ideal, as you won’t be able to receive immediate feedback from your instructor.  If you don’t have a digital SLR cameras, Olympus 10-megapixel digital SLR cameras are available for $25 per session.

You will be able to use the photos you take in this class on your website, in a portfolio or for other self-promotion purposes.

Knowledge learned and images taken in the class will assist students in reaching out to models for professional work in the future.
