Exhibition & Awards

If selected your work will hang in the Mpls Photo Center galleries along with photographers from throughout the world. The exhibit will hang for 6 weeks: First place Award: $300; Second place Award: $200; Third place Award: $100. All exhibitors are included in the Mpls Photo Center’s online gallery.

Eligibility

The exhibition is open to amateur and professional photographers worldwide.

Submitting Your Entries

All entries are submitted via our on-line system. Log in to the Landscapes Smart Entry System to begin the process. When you see the image thumbnail under Submitted Images, you image has been received for the show/contest. You will be able to change an image or add additional information regarding that image, at no cost, by logging into your account. Changes may be made up to the appropriate deadline.

To prepare your images for uploading, please adhere to the following image file specifications:

  • sRGB or RGB color space (standard) - NOT CMYK (typically used by printing industry)
  • save files to 72 ppi resolution; any layers flattened, 8 bit JPEG files (16 bit will not upload.)
  • sized to 1,280 pixels on the longest side, the other size width or height proportional
  • JPG format, compression at level 7 (medium). This compression level will not affect the quality of images viewed on a monitor.
  • Use period preceding jpg in the file name. The following characters will lead to image uploading problems: !@#$%^&*()_+

Acceptance

All entrants will receive an email notification. Accepted images will be posted on the Mpls Photo Center’s website along with instructions for gallery presentation.

Sales

If your work is for sale you will receive 60% of the sales price with 40% going to the Center.

Exhibit Prints

Mpls Photo Center traditionally frames images with a bright white mat and a black wooden frame. We recognizes that some work is non-traditional and incorporates the framing as an integral part of the presentation. All accepted images submitted for exhibition must be printed and framed or mounted professionally. Also, for the convenience of those not living in Minnesota we offer optional printing and framing services. Additional information will be provided upon acceptance into the exhibit.

Use Rights

By submission to this Call for Entry, artists who are accepted grant Mpls Photo Center the right to use their images for the purpose of marketing the exhibition, exhibition catalog, and subsequent display on the Center’s website of exhibitions. Artists grant the use of their images as stated without further contact or compensation from the Center. Artist’s recognition is provided with any use.

About the Juror

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Todd Brandow worked as an art consultant in New York for many years. Since 1997, he has been living in Paris, working as a photography curator, foundation director and book publisher. He co-produced and co-curated the highly successful Edward S. Curtis vintage exhibitions, drawn from the collection of Christopher Cardozo, that were exhibited in European museums between 2000 and 2006. US State Department-sponsored modern print shows of Curtis’s work are currently touring Latin America, Europe and will be soon in North Africa and Japan under his direction. He co-curated a retrospective tour of Finnish photographer Arno Rafael Minkkinen with critic A. D. Coleman. He recently co-curated with Musée de l'Elysée Director William Ewing and Senior Curator Nathalie Herschdorfer the exhibitions /Edward Steichen: Lives in Photography/ and /Edward Steichen: In High Fashion, the Condé Nast Years 1923-1937/. Brandow is the founding director of the Minnesota-based non-profit organization, the Foundation for the Exhibition of Photography (FEP), and President of FEP Editions LLC. Currently, ten new major exhibitions are in the planning and production stages.
