You’ve all seen those incredible photographs and videos taken from the sky. You think to yourself “It’d sure be nice if I could fly my own airplane and capture those amazing stills and videos from above that I’ve seen and dreamt about - but I’m not a pilot and owning or renting airplanes and helicopters are just too expensive.”  That’s all changed.  Aerial photography is easier than ever, with drones!

This class is designed to provide you a full day intensive overview of Remote Control Aerial Photography (RCAP) to get you off the ground quickly, safely and creatively. You will learn how to capture amazing still photos and video while confidently complying with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) commercial usage rules and regulations, and Hobbyist/Recreational guidelines.

If you’ve been curious about flying drones, or have recently bought that shiny new quadcopter and want to learn how to fly safely, responsibly and create outstanding aerial imagery, then this class is for you. You’ll learn how this ultra-hot technology began, where it can take you, best practices for recreational and commercial flying, camera settings, cinematic maneuvers, and post production techniques. You’ll have the exciting opportunity to get your hands on the controls of an indoor training drone in a safe environment so you can gain actual experience for what its like to fly one of these modern marvels correctly.

Not enough? You’ll also enjoy a delicious lunch provided by the Minneapolis Photo Center (MPC), followed by a Q & A discussion on topics including: working on location, privacy issues, rules and regulations, mission and flight crew recommendations. You will also have an introduction to the use of MPC’s Digital Lab and Epson printers for a future Aerial Photography Exhibit of class participants.
