Digital Part 2 - Weekend - Beyond the Basics


Class Description

This class is designed as the follow-up to the one-day Digital Part 1 or for those photographers who are comfortable with the basics of DSLR photography and want to take the next steps both technically and creatively. 
 

This class is designed to build on basic concepts and walk away with deeper understanding of your craft so you can focus on your art.This is a hands on class where concepts will be explained and we will practice shooting in challenging exposure situations, create blur and freeze motion with moving subjects and adjust depth of field for different effects. Students will first briefly review their camera’s shooting and metering modes, white balance options, exposure compensation, and other photography basics. From there. the class will discuss and practice techniques for photographing in specific situations like:

-shooting panoramas,
-when to consider the use of HDR photography and how to do it
-how to best photograph subjects in motion
- learning techniques for maximizing image sharpness whether they are shooting landscapes or photographing objects up close. 
 
We will push deeper into the exposure triangle: depth of field, shutter blur, and how to use ISO to your advantage. 


Class Requirements

Foundational photographic knowledge, including role of aperture and shutter priority and the camera’s MANUAL mode; or the completion of the MPC Beginning Digital Photography Class.

Students will need to bring a tripod and their camera manuals to class.

Lunch will be provided. If you have special dietary needs, we do have a full kitchen so you can bring your own.

About the Instructor

Instructor Photo

Curtis Juliber: New York City native Curtis Juliber previously worked for 16 years at Apple Computer in various sales and marketing roles, working with many Twin Cities's ad agencies and publishing organizations. He has an MBA from Minnesota State University and a BSE from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Curtis has been working with digital images since 1994 and is always investigating software technologies to enhance his digital darkroom.
