Beginning Digital - Ages 13-16

Class Description

The first step into the amazing world of dSLR photography begins with learning how to operate the camera — what all those dials, buttons, and menus can do for you. And learning how beautiful pictures are created.

This course has been specifically designed for teens 13-16. During this series of fun, interactive, hands-on shooting, students will learn the essential functions of their cameras and how to use their cameras to confidently create memorable and engaging photographs.

Students will learn:
• the basics on how to get the best exposure;
• which settings to use and when;
• how to set up the best shot;
• understanding light, color; and
• beginning composition.

Class sizes are kept small so students can get individual attention.

Whether you’ve had some experience with your camera and need brushing up or are new to the digital camera world, come join us in our spacious photography studios for fun and learning. You can expect to take home some beautiful images!

dSLR or “mirrorless” (aka “Four-Thirds”) camera (if you do not have a dSLR yet, you may use one of ours at no charge)

About the Instructor

Corinne Standish: CJ is an instructor at MPC, specializing in photography, Photoshop, and retouching. She studied photography and drawing at the Art Institute and digital imaging at MCTC. She also photographs events and productions for Minnesota Opera and performances for Ashley Ballet and Platinum Dance. CJ has taught photography to children through EDIT and our 2015 children's summer camps, as well as 13 years teaching 9-12 year olds at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church.
