High Dynamic Range Photography


Class Description

A challenge for any photographer is how to accurately represent the possible wide range of dark and light areas found in an image. Applied carefully, the use of high dynamic range (HDR) photography techniques can allow the digital photographer to represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes, ranging from direct sunlight to the deepest shadows

Topics that will be discussed and demonstrated:

  • What is High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography?
  • Why shoot HDR?
  • What images work best with HDR?
  • HDR Efex Pro from Nix Software and the HDR capabilities of Photoshop CS5)

About the Instructor

Instructor Photo

Curtis Juliber: New York City native Curtis Juliber previously worked for 16 years at Apple Computer in various sales and marketing roles, working with many Twin Cities's ad agencies and publishing organizations. He has an MBA from Minnesota State University and a BSE from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Curtis has been working with digital images since 1994 and is always investigating software technologies to enhance his digital darkroom.
