Take Better Photos of Your Kids

Class Description

Do you own a DSLR or a snap shooter that you have never taken off of “auto mode?” Do you have children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, or other special young people who you love to photograph? Are you frequently disappointed with your results? Do you wonder how photographers create portraits while you are stuck making snap shots?

You don’t have to wonder anymore! This class will teach you how to leave auto mode behind for good! Learn to use artistic modes to freeze action, control your depth of field, and make your subject POP! Learn to pull your focus perfectly every time and take advantage of available light so you can turn off your flash for good! Learn to use compositions to add something unexpected and creative to your images. Learn to manage, edit and print your images artistically so they are wall-worthy!

This class takes you through shooting, editing, and printing or ordering prints. There will be a 14 year old model available that you will be able to shoot in 3 different available light set ups, and you can make a 5x7 print to bring home.

Topics that will be discussed and demonstrated:

You will have the option of doing hands on shooting with your own or other participant’s kids, and taking home a 5x7 print from our print lab, ready for you to frame and hang on your wall.

Class Requirements

Only your desire to learn to make better photos of kids and your DSLR or snap shooter, and user manual. We will teach you to get the best possible results with the equipment you have, and teach you what to look for next time you upgrade. If you own Elements or Photoshop, you will get some great editing instructions on disk to use at home. If not, no problem. You can use the shooting and work flow information to go straight to print.

About the Instructor

Vik Orenstein: Photographer / writer Vik Orenstein owns and operates KidCapers portraits (formerly Kidshooters) and three Tiny Acorn Studios - both nationally recognized photography studios specializing in hand-colored child portraits. She has consulted as a child photography expert and shot for Nikon and Pentax.
